A Black Queer History of the United States

This groundbreaking book, part of Beacon’s ReVisioning History series, explores the overlooked history of Black queer Americans from slavery to today, emphasizing how gender and sexual expression have been integral to the Black freedom struggle. By highlighting stories of notable figures and examining the marginalization of Black queer and trans communities, the authors reveal the ongoing fight for recognition and justice, illustrating how Black Americans have long contributed to the LGBTQ rights movement.
