Susan Keating Glaspell, born in 1876 in Davenport, Iowa, was a pioneering journalist and playwright whose career began early with her work at a local newspaper. After covering significant murder cases and resigning at 24, she transitioned into fiction writing, achieving acclaim with her best-selling debut novel, “The Glory of the Conquered.” Glaspell co-founded the Provincetown Playhouse, where she produced influential plays, including the notable “Trifles,” and won the Pulitzer Prize for “Alison's House” in 1931. She continued to explore themes of family and belief until her death in 1948.
