In June 1816, during a journey with Lord Byron, John William Polidori found himself at Lake Geneva with Mary Wollstonecraft, her future husband Percy Bysshe Shelley, and her stepsister Claire Clairmont. On a stormy night, Byron challenged the group to write ghost stories, leading Wollstonecraft to develop her foundational tale for Frankenstein and Polidori to create The Vampyre, the first English vampire story. This audiobook presents Polidori's classic work in its original, unedited format, showcasing the beginnings of vampire fiction.
