Maria Lucas

In "Maria Lucas," a short story set in the world of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice," Maria Lucas marries Mr. Jonas Card to escape a financial crisis for herself and her sister Charlotte. While Mr. Card is genuinely in love with Maria and seeks to win her heart, she initially only considers him a friend. As Maria investigates a shift in Mr. Card's affections, unexpected events lead to his silent yet profound success in winning her over. This engaging tale, originally titled "Maria's Romance," serves as a continuation of Charlotte Collins' story, yet can be enjoyed as a standalone narrative.
