In John Wyndham's 1951 science fiction classic, The Day of the Triffids, the aftermath of a spectacular meteorite shower leaves a blind population and only a few sighted survivors, including Bill Masen and Josella. As they navigate a chaotic, post-apocalyptic world, they must confront the deadly Triffids—giant, walking plants armed with lethal stingers. This chilling tale not only explores humanity's struggle for survival but also eerily anticipates themes of bio-warfare and mass destruction in a time of Cold War paranoia.
