Death at Kent State

On May 4, 1970, four college students were shot dead by Ohio National Guardsmen during a protest against the Vietnam War at Kent State University, an event that would shock the nation and ignite a mass student strike, marking the only one of its kind in U.S. history. A powerful photograph taken by a photojournalism student, capturing a teen girl weeping over a victim's body, won the Pulitzer Prize and became an enduring symbol of the antiwar movement.
