The Birthday Ball

In "Princess Patricia Priscilla," boredom reigns as the young princess approaches her sixteenth birthday and the dreaded Birthday Ball with a lineup of unappealing suitors. Seeking excitement, she disguises herself as a peasant and enrolls in village school, where she discovers a vibrant life and a charming new schoolmaster. This engaging tale by two-time Newbery Medal winner Lois Lowry explores themes of mistaken identity, young love, and the shared humanity between princesses and peasants alike.
