"The Whisperer in Darkness" is a novella by H. P. Lovecraft that blends horror and science fiction, featuring references to the Cthulhu Mythos and introducing the extraterrestrial Mi-go. Told through the perspective of Albert N. Wilmarth, a literature instructor, the story explores mysterious river sightings and local legends amid a Vermont flood. Set against a backdrop of skepticism and curiosity, the narrative reflects Lovecraft’s evolving focus towards science fiction themes during his writing period.
